An interesting programme we worked on was with Argos in their Distribution Centre. It highlights changes in the organisation at the goods in department resulting in a more structured approach.
House keeping was vastly improved resulting in quicker turnarounds and less downtime, with better communication between teams and team members. Previously, dispatch was a constant firefighting environment with no organisation which resulted in team members not knowing where they were. After the changes they now know where the are, and what they need to achieve which enables them to plan from that.
The operations manager noticed a big difference in the working day with more structure with the biggest challenge now being the sustaining of CI within the organisation.
