S A Partners Present the Best Factory Award

Last Month S A Partners were delighted to attend the Best Factory Awards ceremony in London, as sponsors, and to present Cummins Power Technology with their award. Key characteristics exhibited by BFA winners include:

• Clear manufacturing strategy, cascaded down the organisation to the factory floor
• lean and six sigma successfully co-habiting in improvement activities
• Focus on time compression
• Rapid speed to market of new products
• Attention on energy reduction.

The resounding theme of the conference was captured in the soundbite ‘manufacturing is coming home’.  Finalists report that they have managed to attract production back to the UK through compressed leadtimes, a flexible workforce, excellent quality, rising transportation costs and pressure to reduce inventory.
