The Best Factory Awards, run in partnership between Works Management and Cranfield School of Management, have been celebrating Britain’s outstanding manufacturing talent since 1992.
The awards are an obsession for manufacturing managers across the land who plot, scheme and dream about one day winning a coveted BFA. Success depends on overcoming a notoriously tough judging process.
It begins with completing a detailed self-audit questionnaire, which is marked by the judging team at Cranfield School of Management. Factories that prove themselves as a best in class plant then go forward to a judging visit where the team will inspect every nook and cranny of the site to see whether the facts match the figures.
The winners are then revealed and awards presented at a celebratory luncheon that takes place at
8 Northumberland Avenue, London on 27 September. There are 14 awards up for grabs including the coveted overall prize of Toyota Material Handling Factory of the Year.

“S A Partners is passionate about manufacturing. Supporting the Best Factory Awards (as sponsor of the ‘Most Improved Plant’ category) helps to promote best practice in many ways and therefore drives improvement throughout this critically important sector. It gives us the ability to share that best practice and showcase material that is current and thought-provoking, amongst a wide audience. Also, there are follow-on opportunities for attendees to ‘go, look, understand’ these high-performing award winners for themselves, hence providing the chance for further key learning”.
